Anglia Ruskin Union: Students' Opportunities & Services Department

What:  Give it a Go - Shepreth Wildlife Park

Where:  Shepreth Wildlife Park

When: 10:00-16:00

About:  We'll be volunteering alongside the parks wardens and geting up close and personal with tigers, red pandas, meerkats and more! Students will be meet the animals at this small and friendly local zoo as they help to renovate Macaque and Vervet enclosures. Hands on time with the animals will be available.


What:  Microvolunteering - Free Rice

Where:  ARU Chelmsford & Cambridge

When: 10:00-16:00

About:   Put your free time to good use by answering questions through this simple quiz. Everytime you answer a question correctly 10 grains of rice are donated to the United Nations World Food Programme. Come and do your volunteering for the day with this quick and easy microvolunteering event!

Bath Spa Students' Union

What: Food Bank Collection

About:   On Monday 19th February, there will be a Food Donation point where you can donate your non-perishable goods to be taken to local food banks. The launch day will be on Monday 12-2pm in the SU Bar but there will be a donation point in the SU all week!

About:  The Smile Campaign is back! Get involved and help to make Monday morning commuters SMILE :) :) :) !
We will be handing out balloons and Fairtrade flapjacks, bananas and refreshments whilst counting the smiles we receive!

About:  Code Club helps teach primary school aged children basic computer coding!

About:  The mums on the run project aims to encourage mothers of all fitness levels and ability to start running and improve their overall fitness and running skills.

About:  Deadlines stressing you out? Come relax at Maze Park Nature Reserve, only a 10 minute walk from campus. Enjoy some bird watching then build a new home for them.

About:  Help us brighten up the nearby Alzheimers care home with some painting. It’s the perfect way to relax and meet other volunteers. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.

About:  Don’t fancy going out in the cold? Understandable. We have just the project for you! To celebrate the town of Thornaby, the Town Hall Outreach Committee are organising a treasure trail of all the incredible sites and their history. About:  Did you know there are two Alzheimer specialist care homes in Thornaby? This year we have volunteered to make fidget muffs for their patients. These knitted gloves have accessories sowed on to fiddle with, comforting those with dementia. Why not help us crochet one? They’re really easy to make! Collect the knitting pattern, wool, and accessories from the SCA office in the Sports Centre anytime over the week.

About:  Caudwell Children are hosting a variety of activities based around stoytelling, poetry, arts and crafts. We will be helping disabled young people to get creative writing stories, doing illustrations, making puppets/models and having lots of fun.

About:  Come upstairs to the TSK Coffee Lounge to hear local representatives from charities talk about their work in Oxford; to learn about creative, entrepreneurial efforts to address homelessness in the city; and listen to poetry about homelessness from local students. There will be a raffle to win vouchers from local shops as well as a bar downstairs to purchase drinks!


UCLan SU Inspiring Projects

About:  Volunteers are responsible for assisting Teachers at a local refugee centre to teach English to the refugees, asylum seekers and migrant workers. You do not have to prepare the teaching materials, etc. We are looking volunteers that are passionate, helpful, and can commit their time and energy for weekly classes at the centre.

About:  Do you enjoy being outside, spending time with animals and making a positive change in the community? We are going to French` Care Farm to help Jann look after her animals - horses, donkeys, a big big cat called Hercules and a super excitable dog.

About:  We are running our Acts of Kindness challenge; this year with a Green theme! We are aiming to raise awareness of how everyday actions can build into a bigger picture of environmental action. With challenges being released all day, and prizes to match!
