Representatives from Leeds Sport & the Bike Hub will be in the Edge reception all afternoon to kick off Student Volunteering Week 2019 so come and have a chat to us about the volunteering roles we have available. We can support any student, sporty or not to do good stuff on campus, in the community and internationally!
YHA (England & Wales)	YHA Port Eynon - Wales Volunteering Tour	All day, Residential and non-residential options	YHA Port Eynon	We need a team of volunteers to help spruce up our hostel. Tasks will involve painting and decorating and some cleaning. YHA Port Eynon is situated on the most southerly point of the Gower peninsula and converted from South Gower‚Äôs former lifeboat station, YHA Port Eynon enjoys unparalleled sea views from its large lounge windows and offers a close up with the forces of nature. We will hold a celebratory meal for an amazing week's hard work towards the end of the event.
Edinburgh University Students' Association Volunteering Service	Cardmaking Drop-in	12-2pm	The Chaplaincy, Room 2, Edinburgh University	The Students' Association Volunteering Service is organising a cardmaking drop-in for several charities. Take a moment for yourself and a moment to help someone else, while getting crafty. Cards go to the Children's Hospices Across Scotland, Health in Mind, Penumbra and SAMH.

Oxford Hub	LinkAges Valentine's Cards	5-6pm	Oxford Hub	We're sharing the love this Student Volunteering Week! Come along and write some Valentine's cards to local care home residents, and help tackle loneliness and isolation amongst older people in Oxford!
University of West London - VTeam	Volunteering at Our Barn	10:45am - 3:30pm	Depart from SMR // Osterley	Our Barn‚Äô is intended as a 'bridge' between formal education and adult life for young people with learning difficulties or other disability. The VTeam volunteers support the young learners in a wide range of activities, from arts and crafts to working in the kitchen garden at Osterley Park helping them to gain experience and skills needed for adult life.

For residents with limited mobility and access to the outside world, it is essential that they are provided with interaction and stimulation. On Friday, we will be visiting Downhurst, a not-for-profit residential home in Ealing, to entertain their residents.

It's got colours and you can make games out of it, not just solve maths or put the first man on the moon. Coding Club aims to teach primary school students coding in a fun and interactive way and show them the potential of it in any career.
University of Essex Students' Union VTeam	Golden Age	Various times	Various location- Essex	You'd get a bit bored if you saw the same people day in day out, right? That's why we're going to care homes to spice up the residents' lifes with saucy student stories (that essay you submited 20 seconds before the deadline on FASER) and bunches of giggles. You get to practice your English or public speaking skills in a safe, sassy environment and they get to see what the new generation's are up to.
University of Essex Students' Union VTeam	Lingo	Various times	Various locations- Essex	The aim of this project is to help secondary school pupils improve their verbal communication skills in Spanish, German and French. Students will help them practice their speaking in order to prepare for their oral exams. The participating students are required to have at least A-level or equivalent in the target language.
University of Essex Students' Union VTeam	Origami	various hours	Various locations	You don't need to have any experience in Origami, as training will be provided by the project leader. During the sessions, we will start off with basic origami skills, then go on to a more advanced levels. Volunteers will also find out about the history of Origami as well as interesting facts and stories. We will teach children how to origami, as well as the culture around it. We will also have themed sessions depending on the upcoming holidays.
University of Essex Students' Union VTeam	Refugee Teaching Programme	10:15-12:45	Bunting Rooms	Volunteers are responsible for assisting Teachers at a local refugee centre to teach English to the refugees, asylum seekers and migrant workers. You do not have to prepare the teaching materials, etc. We are looking volunteers that are passionate, helpful, and can commit their time and energy for weekly classes at the centre.
University of Essex Students' Union VTeam	Time Travellers	15-16h	Great Clacton Junior School	The main aim of this project is to teach children history in a fun and interactive way. vTeam goes back in time and looks at historical events and different well-known characters. You don‚Äôt have to be a history student to be part of this project. If you are fun, outgoing and willing to learn new things, then this projects is perfect for you!

KCLSU	Volunteering Workshop: Reflecting on Your Experience	12:00 - 13:00	KCLSU - Guy's Campus	This workshop is designed to help students reflect on their volunteering experience, and communicate and utilise the skills they‚Äôve learnt in the context of job applications and the workplace. Sessions are taught through games, colouring and interactive conversations. We work with all ages. In primary schools we use games and interactive activities to help familiarise children with maths and encourage them to use numbers. In secondary schools we assist Maths teachers during their lessons by interacting with students and helping them solve problems.

Royal Holloway Volunteering	"The Love Your Give" Orphanage film screening	6pm	Shilling Building, Royal Holloway	At 6pm we will be screening "The Love Your Give" in the Shilling Building Lecture Theatre. The film shows the untold stories of orphanages, a system that‚Äôs harming the very children we believe it protects, and how you can choose to be part of the solution. The film showcases the movement already in place in all countries to move away from using orphanages towards strengthening families and communities to prevent children from being separated from their families.

Volunteering and Community Engagement Team, The University of Manchester	Big Volunteer Day	10am - 3pm	Moss Side, Manchester	On Big Volunteer Day we'll be joining forces with Upping It, a community organisation helping neighbourhoods in Moss Side and Rusholme to clean and green alleyways, increase recycling and improve the environment. Student volunteers and local residents will work together to transform three alleyways, clearing rubbish and installing new planters to make a brand new green space for the community to enjoy.

Accommodation is provided free of charge in single gender shared rooms.
Edinburgh University Students' Association Volunteering Service	The Edinburgh Pad Project	12-3pm	Edinburgh Remakery	Learn a new skill, meet new people and make a difference! The pads made will be donated to The Homeless Period and Leith Food Bank. In this workshop you will learn basic sewing machine skills and get a pattern to take home to make pads yourself. Spaces are limited. Most sanitary pads end up in landfill and take hundreds of years to degrade. Making reusable pads is a way to promote sustainability, while helping those in need.

No experience required; just turn up and get stuck in.
